Welcome to The Life in Art Photography! I’m Joe, the heart and lens behind the business. My journey into photography began long before I held a camera professionally. In junior high, I often found myself wishing I could capture moments to help preserve precious memories. That simple desire grew into a lifelong passion.

While attending graduate school and working as an anesthesia tech, a coworker asked me to photograph his son’s senior portraits after seeing some photos I’d taken on a recent trip to Europe. That session marked the beginning of my full-time photography career—25 years ago. It’s been an incredible journey ever since.

My Passion for People and Photography

I’ve always been drawn to people and their stories. I see beauty everywhere, from the intricate details of nature and architecture to the unspoken bond between a parent and child. To me, nothing is more beautiful than capturing genuine love and connection. People are my favorite subjects because they are unique, dynamic, and full of life.

My Approach

I bring a bespoke photojournalistic style to my work, striving to keep images as true to life as possible. Every client is unique, and I pride myself on tailoring my approach to meet their individual needs and desires. Whether it’s adjusting to weather changes, shifting lighting, or embracing each client’s unique vision, I’m here to make it happen.

Over the years, I’ve photographed a wide range of events and milestones, including city events, bar and bat mitzvahs, family portraits, headshots, parties, and corporate gatherings. No matter the occasion, I aim to deliver magazine-quality images that transport you back to those cherished moments.

My Team

I’m fortunate to work alongside an amazing network of second shooters, attendants, and videographers who share my dedication to capturing memories. Together, we strive to provide a seamless and enjoyable experience for every client.

A Personal Touch

Beyond photography, I’m a devoted traveler, having explored 14 countries with my wonderful wife and two incredible kids. My 13-year-old daughter has a gift for baking, and her creations are as delightful as her vibrant personality. She and her mama are my greatest inspirations, always bringing warmth and authenticity to my world and my work. My 15-year-old son, meanwhile, has quickly become a talented photographer himself, and we enjoy sharing this creative passion as a family. When we’re not behind the lens, we love cooking meals from scratch and hosting friends in our home.
